SUMMARY
Ansys believes in developing our future engineers and technologists. We offer an enriching internship program for undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled full-time in a four-year college or university.
Our interns work on a variety of impactful projects. They develop and test our industry-leading simulation software while gaining real experience in their field of study. This position is to directly support the Mechanical Business Unit at the Salt Lake City, UT office. The Additive Manufacturing intern position will be focusing on processing and analyzing deformation data from physical experimentation & simulation for the laser powder bed fusion process, designing, implementing, and validating novel algorithms for model calibration, and supporting Ansys ACT wizard development. This internship is a 40-hour per week paid position starting May 2024 and concluding August 2024.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the AM development team to process and analyze deformation data from physical experimentation & simulation for the laser powder bed fusion process.
- Design, Implement, and validate novel algorithms for model calibration.
- Support Ansys ACT wizard development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing an MS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related technical disciplines with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must be enrolled in a full-time degree program and return to the program after completing the internship.
- Team player, responsible and motivated.
- Knowledge of the deformation characteristics of metal additive manufacturing processes such as LPBF.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and optimization processes.
- Experience with scripting for process automation, optimization, and visualization using Python and/or other programming languages.
- Exposure to FEA and CAD concepts with hands-on commercial FEA software use experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on Ansys Workbench Mechanical software use experience.
- Exposure to Ansys Application Customization Toolkit (ACT) in Workbench Mechanical.
- In-depth knowledge of thermal-structural FEA simulation for LPBF.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with the multi-attribute optimization process.
