About the role

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job requires analyzing and synthesizing complex data from multiple sources into comprehensive marketing recommendations that enhance and evolve Georgia Natural Gas’ sustainability initiatives. This role requires an innovative thinker with experience in a wide variety of areas such as customer experience design, retention and loyalty programs, product development, project management, brand support, and digital marketing.  The Senior Marketing Strategist position is responsible for working across business units to design, build, implement and monitor new products and customer experiences that ultimately drive overall business goals with a particular focus on Sustainability. This individual will serve as the business owner of these initiatives, and will be responsible for working with IT, Customer Operations, and outside vendors to ensure products, and all associated features, meet customer needs, reinforce GNG’s brand, and support overall business objectives.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 7-10 years applicable experience is required
  • Must be able to demonstrate the following:
    • Thorough understanding of traditional and non-traditional marketing and research principles.
    • Ability to think systematically, strategically, and proactively.
    • Proven success of developing new ideas and marketing strategies that drive financial and market share results.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, vendors, and partners.
    • Ability to plan, execute, and measure multiple high-priority activities within strict deadlines and budgets. 
    • A history of translating business needs into customer focused products through strong writing and UX best practices. 
    • Ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations to Marketing Manager/Director.
    • Experience with environmentally-focused or sustainability initiatives preferred. 
    • Experience with digital design, development, or analytics tools preferred. 
  • Must be able to work independently, yet able to operate effectively as a team player. Must be self-motivated.

Project Management:

  • Serve as business owner for sustainability projects to develop new products or enhance customer experience. 
  • Strong relationship management, especially the ability to communicate with and influence people at all levels of the company. 
  • Define and document business requirements to satisfy marketing department needs.
  • Coordinate and manage all facets of product launch (e.g. customer care center, IT, marketing, legal, regulatory, etc.).
  • Coordinate efforts with Operations, IT, and/or external vendors to ensure projects are designed, tested, implemented, and monitored per defined business requirements and objectives. 
  • Document/track project progress and provide status updates to various parties as requested.

 

Product Management:

  • Provide analysis and insight to develop product plans to support customer acquisition, retention, experience, and profitability.
  • Improve product mix of customer portfolio based on product profitability.
  • Develop product roadmaps and key messages for a variety of internal and external stakeholders that increase overall awareness of GNG’s sustainability initiatives as well as product adoption.
  • Assist with marketing research efforts to identify new market opportunities and to improve performance of existing functionality.
  • Develop alternative marketing capabilities and strategies for entering niche markets/segments.

 

Marketing Tactics and Evaluation:

  • Monitor and evaluate performance of both new and existing products and processes to achieve overall marketing, financial, and business goals.
    • Develop key marketing performance indicators.
    • Provide Return on Investment/Cost per Acquisition analysis.
    • Create regular reports to understand performance and impact across all channels. 
  • Coordinate with others to ensure consistency of activities in the marketplace.
  • Assist in corporate marketing plans and execution of strategies to maximize profitability and meet overall company goals.
