Position Overview

The Novelis Fairmont, WV team is seeking an Associate Operations Leader (Production Supervisor). The Associate Operations Leader (Production Supervisor) will help lead and develop hourly employees while focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency.

 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities: 

• Ensure all employees are accurately trained on and follow safety policies and procedures.
• Responsible for maintaining and supporting a safe working environment in the plant.
• Consistently supervising conditions and crew practices throughout the course of the shift to identify and quickly resolve unsafe conditions or at-risk behaviors.
• Participate in and support accident investigations and Behavior-Based Safety observations.
• Coordinate first aid to employees as needed.
• Priority-setting and crew-directing activities to facility daily progress toward monthly production targets.
• Scheduling of crews, including overtime (considering equalization), vacations and PTO, as well as supervising and addressing absenteeism.
• Resolve machine center/line problems which result in downtime and/or product quality deficiencies, including coordinating the use of outside resources as needed.
• Management of operational supplies.
• Provide input and interact frequently with Maintenance personnel as it relates to machine center reliability, repairs and coordination of weekly and scheduled PM schedules.
• Acquire and communicate improvement ideas, whether from crew members, management or self-directed.
• Promote Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy, implement the EHS management system and encourage continual improvement of EHS performance in day-to-day operations.
• Special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of validated leadership experience
• Be role model for leading and developing a positive, team-oriented culture
• Excellent leadership skills and good social skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to drive accountability
• Proficient in Computer Software – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Ability to work evenings, weekdays, and holidays.
• Ability to work one weekend per month (12-hour shift both Saturday and Sunday)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree or Technical Degree from an Accredited College
• 7+ years of manufacturing experience
• Manufacturing union environment
• Kronos and/or timekeeping experience
• SAP helpful
• Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement.
