About the role

Under supervision of Center Manager will work independently to perform office responsibilities related to reception, registration and checkout of patients. Under supervision of physician/nurse practitioner, physician assistant, provides quality nursing care for assigned patients. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Consistently greets patients and visitors upon arrival in a positive and professional manner.
  2. Accurately collects demographic and insurance information and enters the patient information in the practice management system.
  3. Schedules appointments in accordance with established protocol.
  4. Answers incoming telephone calls according to procedure. Directs calls as appropriate and/or correctly documents required information and presents to responsible person.
  5. Prepares medical charts and required paperwork as directed.
  6. Collects and posts patient payments, balances cash drawer, and prepares daily deposits.
  7. Selects accurate diagnosis codes for billing and posts charges in the practice management system.
  8. Maintains work area and reception area in a neat, orderly manner.
  9. Orders for necessary supplies for front office and patient care.
  10. Completes assignments as directed by providers/nurse.
  11. Assists in collecting data regarding patient care medical record information.
  12. Participates in patient/family education.
  13. Prepares exam rooms with necessary supplies for delivery of patient care.
  14. Assists with the scheduling of tests, treatments and/or referrals of patients.
  15. Assists providers with patient examinations, procedures, treatments and administration of medication as directed by providers.
  16. Keeps daily monthly records according to EMH, State, and JCAHO regulations.
  17. Participates in staff meetings, committees and teams that facilitate communications education and performance improvement.
  18. Attends continuing education programs to maintain current knowledge and skills.
  19. Administers medications (oral and parenteral) as directed by providers.
  20. Provides a comfortable and safe environment for patients.
  21. Discusses the reports with provider each day and calls patients to give results and instructions.
  22. Demonstrates a commitment to incorporating the core concepts of patient family centered care into practice by considering the age of the patient served, applies knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques through the life span in planning and implementing care.
  23. Prepares and maintains Nursing/Front Office schedule to ensure appropriate coverage. Available for call-in each day.

Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. Risks exposure to disease, infection, physical strain and assault. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, radiation and antineoplastic agents. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.

Qualifications

Preferred one (1) year CMA experience in clinical setting with previous work history considered.
