Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Research) position in Functional Genomics and Protein Engineering. This faculty role will support and expand the mission of the Functional Genomics Shared Resource (FGSR)—a multifaceted core facility that integrates cutting-edge gene-modulating technologies, genome-wide screening technologies, and advanced protein and antibody production services. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge biomedical research through collaborative projects, independent investigations, and core-based innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Innovation

-        Establish an independent research program aligned with functional genomics, cancer biology, or protein engineering.

-        Develop and apply genome-wide screening strategies and protein-based tools to investigate disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.

-        Collaborate with FGSR leadership and users to co-develop innovative technologies and workflows.

Core Integration & Scientific Support

-        Contribute to the scientific direction of the FGSR by supporting collaborative projects, protocol development, and technology integration.

-        Provide consultation and expertise to investigators on experimental design, data interpretation, and grant development.

Teaching & Mentorship

-        Mentor trainees and junior scientists in molecular biology, biotechnology, and functional screening approaches.

-        Participate in graduate and professional education programs. Grants & Publications

-        Pursue extramural funding through NIH and other agencies.

-        Publish impactful research and contribute to collaborative manuscripts and core-supported publications.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO
