About the Role

The New York Times is looking for an Associate Information Security Analyst with a passion of enabling end-user security tools across our newsroom and business teams. The mission of the Information Security team is to protect staff, subscribers, sources, and intellectual property of The New York Times and our subsidiaries from unauthorized access, damage, and disclosure. To accomplish this, the team focuses on building relationships across the newsroom, technology, and business teams to secure systems, implement tooling, and provide education. You will help implement security tools, services, and resources across the company. This role is a hybrid role based in New York City, with the expectation to come into the office twice per week.You will report to the Manager, Information Security.

Responsibilities:

• You will work directly with employees across the organization, including the newsroom and business side of the company, providing 1 on 1 training and workshops

• You will maintain documentation related to security tools and services

• You will improve features and improve the user experience within end-user security tools

• You will develop processes for staff that embed security within existing workflows across the company

• You will conduct analysis for a variety of reports used by teams across Information Security.

• You will monitor security tool usage with metrics

• You will be part of an on-call rotation to resolve emergencies

Basic Qualifications:

• Familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts, including social engineering, common tactics, techniques, and procedures

• 1+ years of experience using and troubleshooting end-user security tools

• 1+ years of experience with learning, creating, and integrating new digital technology such as audio, video, social media, and other web-based technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience working with large datasets

The annual base pay salary for this role is between $80,000.00 and $95,000.00.
