Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Manager, Lab Asset Operations to oversee laboratory asset optimization and site operations in a dynamic biotech environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, safety, and compliance of lab activities while supporting scientific teams with the necessary resources and infrastructure to drive innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lab asset management, lab operations, facilities coordination, IT coordination, vendor relations, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lab Operations & Management
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring seamless workflow and efficiency.
- Manage lab inventory, equipment maintenance, and procurement to support research and development activities.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance lab efficiency.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
- Onboarding & offboarding of physical laboratory assets, such as benchtop equipment and analytical instrumentation. Additionally, this may include intangible assets, such as software licenses.
- Oversee equipment maintenance planning, documentation lifecycle management, and managing contracts. Coordination with vendors to perform calibrations, repairs and recertifications on equipment assets (i.e., biosafety cabinets, UPLCs, etc.).
- Ensure all facility equipment, operations and maintenance information/data is entered, tracked, and allocated correctly in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Sanitize data and/or enhance naming convention across dataset to ensure reports can be generated accurately, equipment history can be tracked, maintenance tasks can be scheduled, and spare parts inventory is managed.
- Support in-field activities on the shop floor as deemed appropriate (i.e., equipment troubleshooting, equipment ID tag, calibration status sticker(s), out of service notices, testing in progress, etc.)
- Purchase order creation within Oracle Procurement Cloud interface, managing approval workflow(s), collaborating with suppliers, providing updates on order status, working internally to provide real-time visibility into purchase order status, ensuring all phases of the approval workflows are tracked and managed.
- Provide reporting on procurement activities, track spend, and make data driven recommendations to drive internal cost savings discussions.
- Perform quarterly inventory of all assets on 2nd and 3rd floor equipment located at 75 Hayden Ave (Lexington).
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, GLP, GMP, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Lead lab safety programs, including hazardous materials management and emergency response.
- Maintain lab permits, certifications, and inspections, working closely with EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) teams.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for lab personnel.
Equipment & Facilities Management
- Oversee installation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and external partners.
- Optimize lab space utilization and support facility expansion or relocation projects.
