Responsibilities
The Research Scientist II will perform analyses for the “Impact of the New York State Medicaid Value-Based Payment Model on Opioid Use Treatment and Equity” project, a project funded by the National Institutes on Drug Abuse (NIDA). The incumbent will be responsible for conducting analyses from existing New York State Department of Health), state and federal data sources that can be used to plan and evaluate Value Based Payment (VBP) related initiatives. The Research Scientist II will be responsible for executing draft measure specifications, analyzing data collected as part of new and ongoing projects, summarizing the results to members of the New York State Department of Health and external project teams, and disseminating findings through presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or a related field and three years of research experience; OR a Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or a related field and two years of research experience; OR a Doctorate degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or a related field. R and/or R Studio programming experience. Advanced Statistical Analysis Software (SAS)/Structured Query Language (SQL) programming skills. Experience in data management and/or analysis using large databases. Familiarity with quality measures used in primary care. Experience with or knowledge of New York State public health insurance programs. Experience with Access and/or Excel.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
