About the role

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor who is responsible for coordination and supervision of project-based survey/layout requirements. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee project survey operations in construction survey 

  • Interface with contractors and trades to ensure work accuracy relative to design intent 

  • Manage quality control of self-performed and subcontracted work 

  • Build strong cross-cultural relationships and resolve conflicts appropriately 

  • Provide proactive leadership in developing the safety culture on the project site 

  • Foster teamwork and promote diversity 

  • Liaise between field engineers and contractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specs 

  • Promote the Zero Injury Safety Program 

  • Coordinate with registered surveyor company for project start-up 

  • Attend and participate in project meetings as required 

  • Maintain relationships with customers, engineers, union representatives, and subcontractors 

  • Portray a positive attitude and demonstrate professional customer service skills 

  • Ensure teams have the resources and support to provide superior service 

  • Foster a project team culture of superior service to the customer 

  • Lead business operations and project leadership consistent with Mortenson values

  • Perform all other duties as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in one of the following: Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience as a surveyor within the construction industry  

  • Minimum of five years previous survey experience required  

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License preferred   

  • Driver’s license is required  

  • Computer skills in Bentley Inroads, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center or equivalent survey software  

  • Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to total station, GPS, data collector, etc.  

  • Travel required

The base pay range for this role is $87,100 MIN - $117,600 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Wa
