The Lead Director of Assessments will serve as the enterprise owner of assessments, responsible for designing and leading a unified, enterprise-wide assessments strategy that spans selection, development, skills capability, and executive-level assessments. This leader will bring together previously decentralized assessment practices into a cohesive, scalable, and strategic approach that supports talent decisions and development across the colleague lifecycle. The position involves stakeholder engagement, discovery, vendor management, resource planning, and strong partnership with DDAT HR Technology and HR Analytics to drive innovation, analytics integration, and measurable business impact. The Lead Director will ensure assessment strategy aligns with CVS Health’s transformation goals and culture priorities, embedding assessment insights into workforce planning, leadership development, and succession.

Signature Impact (First 12 Months)

  • Unify and operationalize an enterprise-wide assessment strategy, resulting in measurable improvements in talent selection, development, and succession planning.
  • Implement a data-driven assessment framework that informs business and talent decisions, leveraging analytics and technology in partnership with DDAT HR Technology and HR Analytics.
  • Optimize vendor strategy and resource allocation to deliver scalable, high-impact assessment solutions across all business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an end-to-end assessments strategy that supports selection, development, skills capability, and executive talent planning.
  • Serve as the enterprise owner of assessments, driving innovation, consistency, and measurable impact across the colleague lifecycle.
  • Lead discovery efforts to understand current-state practices, gaps, and opportunities across business units and talent functions.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Executive Talent Management, DDAT HR Technology, HR Analytics, HRBPs and other stakeholders to integrate assessments into key talent processes and digital platforms.
  • Manage vendor relationships and develop a cohesive vendor strategy that supports enterprise needs and drives innovation in assessment practices.
  • Oversee a team of assessment professionals.
  • Establish governance, standards, and continuity across assessment tools and practices, continuously benchmarking against external best practices.
  • Allocate resources effectively to balance high-volume selection needs with strategic development and executive assessment priorities.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure assessments inform succession planning, development actions, and talent decisions.
  • Integrate assessment insights into talent reviews, workforce planning, and leadership development programs.
  • Define and track assessment KPIs and outcomes, leveraging data and analytics to demonstrate business impact and inform continuous improvement.
  • Champion a culture of data-driven, equitable talent decisions by embedding assessments into DEIB and culture strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and scalability, informed by benchmarking.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in talent assessment, organizational development, or related fields.
  • Proven success designing and implementing enterprise-wide assessment strategies across selection and development.
  • Experience managing assessment programs for high-volume roles as well as executive-level talent.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across HR, business units, and shared services.
  • Experience with vendor selection, management, and integration.
  • Ability to synthesize data, feedback, and insights into actionable strategy.
  • Skilled in resource planning and team leadership in complex, matrixed environments.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology
