We are looking to hire an engineer to support DSP/Communications/Cognitive Radios design, testing, and prototyping within The Communication Software Implementation Department (CSID) under CTED.  CSID provides proof-of-concept studies, novel algorithms, and prototypes using software-defined radios, reconfigurable hardware transceivers, wireless communication, and navigation systems to enable the Space Enterprise's mission success. We are recognized experts in applying non-classical approaches, such as machine learning, to solve real-world problems in satellite communication, signals intelligence, anti-interference, and other mission areas and collaborate daily with the broader CTED team members.

CTED’s domains include main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies.   The division comprises all aspects, from architecture to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

What You’ll Be Doing

• The chosen candidate will look to design, build, test, and demonstrate software/hardware prototypes for intelligent, cognitive radios

• Deliver tech demos and briefings to internal stakeholders and to external customers

• Pitch ideas for new research and development projects

• Adapt to changing industry trends and explore new concepts outside your comfort zone.

Work Model: Majority of work onsite in El Segundo with some telecommuting possible depending on the needs of the customer.

What You Need to be Successful - Member of Technical Staff

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline

• Minimum of 2-years of related experience in signal processing or communications

• Practical experience with modern communication and digital signal processing techniques

• Experience working with Linux or development on a Linux platform

• Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Python, C++, Golang, Rust, Swift

• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Member of Technical Staff

Minimum Requirements:

• All the above requirements for Member of Technical Staff

• Minimum of 5-years of industry experience

• Strong hands-on experience with modern communication and digital signal processing techniques.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

• Advanced technical degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline

• Experience in satellite communications, CubeSats, or GPS/GNSS/PNT systems

• Software defined radio development (GNU Radio) and/or experience with USRP or similar SDR platforms

• Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning techniques and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, PyTorch.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
