As the Director of Associate Underwriting, you will actively evaluate and implement workflow methods and existing practices to improve the efficiency of the Associate Underwriter team/department. You will lead and motivate associate underwriting teams while enjoying an in-office environment in Springfield, Missouri, or Albany, New York.
How You Will Make An Impact
• Responsible for ensuring the overall quality and service level standards for processing and servicing of the P&C personal, commercial and agriculture lines of business are met. This includes new business, change, renewal, policy servicing and premium audit functions.
• Lead, motivate and develop the Associate Underwriting teams to deliver exceptional service and support profitable growth
• Foster a positive and productive team culture
• Develop innovative and efficient best practices
• Monitor, evaluate and performance manage team productivity.
• Ensure the team has the necessary resources, tools, and support to perform their tasks efficiently and effectively
• Manage and serve as a contact for escalated processing concerns and inquiries from agents and business leaders.
• Finalize and approve exception-based decisions, high value changes, and billing refunds.
• Direct efforts to address corrective action on policies that were not handled appropriately or where system issues prevented the delivery of exceptional service (I think this is referring to involvement in escalated production problems)
• Represent the division and department, participate in presentations, and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with employees, agents, and third parties
• Communicate regularly with other stakeholders and business areas to ensure alignment and collaboration
• Collaborate with personal and commercial/agriculture Underwriting leaders to constantly find ways to integrate systems, training, procedures, workflow, and consistency among teams
• Responsible for reporting on service level standards, quality and performance results
Minimum Qualifications:
• Two or four-year degree in relevant field or alike work experience considered
• Eight + years of industry relevant experience
• Strong leadership skills and experience developing Leaders
• Innovative and curious
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines
• Maintain and demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills, successfully creating/maintaining professional relationships
• Strong influencing and negotiating skills
• Ability to utilize critical analysis skills, analyze data, and use for decision making
Preferred Qualifications:
• CPCU or industry relevant insurance designations
• Property and Casualty Underwriting/Operations experience, with a focus in Commercial/Ag
Salary for this position can range from $86287.50 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $129441.00 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
