Job Responsibilities
- Involved in FPGA Design, System Simulation, Synthesis, Resource and Power Utilization analysis, Place and Route, Timing analysis, Verification, and Integration activities. Generate and execute constraint driven synthesis and timing closure techniques.
- May also be involved with design, build, and test of cutting-edge devices containing both digital and optical hardware. Contribute to digital hardware requirements analysis, definition, and management. Conduct functional analysis, performance analysis (e.g. signal integrity, power, etc.), interface analysis and definition for the design, integration, and verification of digital components, equipment, and systems.
- Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and budget
- Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems
- Ability to complete a technical project independently
- Mentor and coach other engineers.
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
- Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
- Analyze designs as necessary
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
- Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
- Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
Job Responsibilities Part II
- Firmware development Tools/Skills proficiencies:
- Implement high speed interface designs, low power architectures, embedded micro-processing systems, and complex memory designs, including protocols such as DDR, 10G/40G/100G Ethernet, Aurora, and PCIe in networking applications
- Familiar with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) theories such as over/under sampling, FIRs, DDCs, DUCs, and FFTs. Involved in implementing novel DSP algorithms efficiently into FPGA structures.
- Generate and execute constraint driven synthesis and timing closure techniques
- Considered a VHDL expert and familiar with Verilog and System Verilog
- Proficient with various scripting languages and approaches such as tcl, bash, perl, etc.
- Proficient with Mentor Graphics Questa or ModelSim simulation/verification tools, with familiarity with constrained random verification approaches
- Subversion, CVS, GIT, or similar
- Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, Microsemi Libero SoC, etc.
- Expertise in system integration involving software and digital hardware.
- Digital Hardware design Tools/Skills proficiencies:
- Schematic capture and providing input to PWB/PCB design through layout, fabrication and assembly
- Manage bill of materials (BOMs), costs, and schedules
- Make substantial contributions to digital hardware requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis (e.g. signal integrity, power, etc.), interface analysis and definition for the design, integration and verification of digital components, equipment and systems for major programs and projects.
- Expert in schematic capture process and leading a PWB/PCB design through layout, fabrication, and assembly. Familiarity with s-parameters, eye diagrams, jitter analysis, and signal integrity performance metrics in both time and frequency domains.
- Expertise in High speed circuit design using advanced materials and miniaturized packaging techniques.
- Contribute to the integration and verification of digital components, equipment, and systems for major programs and projects
- Expertise with high-speed serial and parallel interfaces such as 40GBASE-KR4, PCIe, DDR4, USB, SERDES, etc.
