Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a passionate Principal Data Engineer / Senior Principal Data Engineer to join our team and support the Sentinel Program. This role will be based in Roy, Utah, or Huntsville, Alabama.

The successful candidate will help design and develop the program data platform by automating end-to-end data product publication, integration, and utilization from disparate data sources, through ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) pipelines and Data Analytics/Visualization solutions.

You will share in the ownership of the technical vision, direction, and realization of advanced data integration and analysis systems, transforming the way we understand and utilize data. We are looking for self-motivated, hardworking individuals with a demonstrated ability to innovate and solve complex technical problems.


What you get to do

• Provide innovative technical solutions to previously unsolved data management and integration challenges.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain scalable production ELT pipelines.
• Perform data preparation, cleaning, integration, and automation from heterogeneous sources.
• Ensure data integrity and system availability.
• Diagnose and address data integration issues efficiently.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend core technologies and strategies.
• Monitor and optimize system performance.
• Assist in the development of standard program data models.
• Design and develop data processing pipelines that generate automated quality and completeness metrics for program data products.
• Provide technical expertise to enable a shared vision within an Agile Team.
• Create and maintain technical documentation related to data pipelines and processes.
• Stay abreast of industry standards and trends in data management, processing, and utilization.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for Principal Data Engineer:
• Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree with 3 years’ experience; PhD with 1 year experience or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to
