General Purpose

Oversees regulatory and reporting of system performance including reliability, major events, and fire incidents and execution of reliability improvement plans.  Establishes strategic business objectives, strategies, and plans in support of Company strategic goals.  Manages and allocates financial and employee resources.  Represents the Company in critical industry matters including commission regulatory processes and industry standard workshops. Company expert in reliability and system performance analysis, reliability and resilience investment planning, and regulatory reporting on those topics. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees. Implements and supports Company programs and policies.  

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the reporting of reliability statistics to federal and state commissions and BHE.
  • Manage activities across business teams to ensure efficient capital investment in reliability and resilience improvement projects to generate internal and regulatory reporting deliverables.
  • Direct activities for regulatory and internal reliability reporting including data request responses and related compliance tasks.
  • Manage and coordinate activities for regulatory and internal fire incident and utility ignition reporting.
  • Responsible for cross-functional reliability improvement project planning and reliability improvement strategy development for capital investment planning including capital and maintenance expenditure options and serviceability reviews.
  • Facilitate Reliability Improvement Governance Committee oversight of project planning and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with peer utilities to align on best practices for reliability improvement including participation in industry working groups, regulatory proceedings, and conferences.
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral testimony for regulatory proceedings, public meetings, and other internal and external presentations on reliability, system performance, and improvement plans.
  • Apply engineering and environmental principles to support the Company's operations, including facilities technical studies, planning, and implementing capital projects.
  • Influence future standards and requirements by attending industry workshops as a Company representative and expert.
  • Prepare expert testimony for legislative hearings, regulatory proceedings, and court proceedings.
  • Ensure assets are supported with internal and external technical resources, and manage issues associated with operations, asset performance, and environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for daily communication of expectations, coaching employees, providing ongoing feedback, and working collaboratively with other departments. 
  • Facilitate change and foster continuous improvement for compliance to a developed standard. 
  • Evaluate industry standards and practices, state and local requirements, and internal policies for process improvement, compliance tracking and reporting, and regulatory filings.
  • Oversee process centered transition activities and special projects.  
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Recommend and implement action plans for achieving objectives.
  • Select, coach, and develop employees.
  • Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or other applicable field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in plant operations, maintenance, engineering or a related field. 
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in people management. 
  • Management skills including the ability to establish objectives, execute policy, monitor resources, and manage the development or implementation of a system, program, or process.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate employees. 
  • Knowledge of Company's strategic plan, objectives for specific area, as well as Company policies, procedures, and practices.  
  • Knowledge and experience in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical generation facilities.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft 365 including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation applications.
