The Bradley lab is seeking a research technician to help push forward projects on the biology of gut microbes. The person filling this position will culture commensal Clostridia using an anaerobic chamber and/or culture tubes, and will perform a variety of growth, biochemical, and molecular assays (potentially including “-omics” techniques like metabolomics and RNAseq). They will also process and analyze the resulting data and prepare it for publication. Other responsibilities would include media preparation and assisting with glassware, maintaining stocks and inventory, ordering supplies and reagents, participating in lab meetings, learning relevant literature, and maintaining our excellent record of lab safety. With time, responsibilities may expand to include training new lab members (e.g. undergraduates, rotating graduate students). 

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants must have significant wet-lab training either during or after their degree and must show evidence of achievement. In addition to technical qualifications, successful applicants will show evidence of strong skills in organization, attention to detail, and interpersonal communication (including giving and receiving feedback).

Desired: Experience working in a microbiology or molecular biology research lab; prior experience with microbiology (especially culturing anaerobes); experience with modern molecular and/or “-omics” methods.

The pay range for this job profile is $19.28 - $25.19. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
