PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT - ACUTE REHAB NURSING

Salary Range: $20.8200 - $32.0300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) I assists in direct patient care by providing for activities of daily living (ADL), comfort, nutrition, and hygiene needs for the adult and geriatric patient. Takes and records clinical measures, collects specimens, provides transportation, and maintains equipment and supplies. Immediately informs RN of any changes in patient condition and reinforces patient teaching as part of providing a safe patient centered care environment. May assist with patient charts as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Recent employment as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Experience in computerized charting preferred

License Required

• Either:
     • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant/CNA from the State of California¹, or
     • Current Licensed Vocational Nurse license, or      • Current RN license, or      • Completion of first semester and ongoing enrollment in nursing program ¹ Note that if using CNA Certification, must meet all requirements for certification renewal including obtaining 48 hours of CEUs every two years and obtaining a minimum of 12 of those CEUs in each year of the certification period. 

 

Certifications Required

• Current BLS certification required
