The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

The IT MES Technical Lead role will be responsible for working with business leaders and users as well as IT resources to define, develop, implement, and support standardized Camstar MES solutions across a global environment.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Engage with internal/external customers to analyze requirements from a business and systems perspective by interpreting business goals and objectives and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure that MES work is completed on schedule and that impact to manufacturing systems is thoroughly documented and communicated.
  • Design, implement and support Camstar systems in accordance with standard Corning IT practices.
  • Develop MS applications using various technical capabilities like Camstar modeling, .Net, C#, AJAX, T-SQL, and others.
  • Design and implement applications using various components of Camstar.
  • Create specifications for software engineers to use as direction for development.
  • Create proof-of-concepts as well as production functionality.
  • Provide first and second line technical support to users and other software engineers. 

 

Educational Requirement:

 

  • BS in Computer Science /Systems Management/IT Related field.

 

Required Skills:

 

  • 2+ years’ experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • 2+ years' experience using object-oriented programming languages like .NET, C#, Java.
  • 3+ years' experience working with IT systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with source code management systems such as Git, TFVC, SVN, Gitlab.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira or Gitlab issues.
  • Experience with relational databases.

 

Desired Skills:

 

  • 2 - 4 years hands-on Camstar development experience.
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Experience in working in a Scrum/Agile team.
  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, facilitation and negotiation skills (including ability to “translate” between business and technology needs).
  • Ability to continuously prioritize and multitask efficiently.

 

Location & Travel Requirements:

 

  • This position can be based in Corning, NY or Charlotte, NC (hybrid or remote)
  • 0-25% travel domestic and international
