Education

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • National Certification within 2 years required
  • BSN Preferred OR must be enrolled in BSN program within 90 days of hire and completed within the first three years of employment.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.

Position Summary

The Inpatient Wound Care Specialist strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. The Inpatient Wound Care Specialist ensures practice is in accordance with competency required for that area.

  • This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done through participation in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives.
  • The Inpatient Wound Care Specialist provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes.
  • In managing patient care the Inpatient Wound Care Specialist, will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes.
  • The Inpatient Wound Care Specialist performs the primary function of an RN in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients at Jupiter Medical Center.
  • The nurse assists the Physicians with the development and implementation of wound treatment plans and participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
