Software Engineer Graduate Intern/Co-Op - Algorithms & Vision
CartesianAbout the role
At Cartesian, we’re on a mission to map the physical world at unprecedented scale and precision. We are developing a first-of-its-kind product to solve the challenge of indoor GPS and inventory management for retailers and logistics operators.
Our founders are an MIT engineering professor and alum who invented the award-winning patented technologies underlying Cartesian. Since spinning out in 2023, our team has built and launched our product with major enterprise customers. We are cashflow-positive and funded by the highly selective SBIR Award from the US National Science Foundation and by customer revenue.
By joining Cartesian as we transition to a scalable product, you’ll be developing and shipping core algorithms part of our first product, building new features, and informing the future product roadmap. You’ll also be part of a collaborative and intellectually-stimulating work environment in Kendall Square/Cambridge, next to MIT and the Charles River.
Responsibilities
Develop world-class indoor positioning software with a focus on signal processing and computer vision algorithms.
Design, develop, optimize, and deploy new algorithms in mobile and cloud environments.
Create software tools and datasets for benchmarking algorithm performance in real-world environments.
-
Collaborate with the rest of our small and growing team to ship new features to our customers.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a PhD/MS degree in computer science or equivalent field.
Research experience in signal processing algorithms and computer vision, including experience with localization and state estimation.
Publications in top-tier CS venues in vision, graphics, or mobile computing (such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, MobiCom, MobiSys, ICASSP).
You crave measurable impact and want to spearhead deploying and testing your algorithms in scalable products.
You value hard work and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Nice to have
Past experience in an early-stage startup
Experience with mobile vision (3D reconstruction/meshing, 3D rendering, on-device ML), camera-based SLAM, sensor fusion algorithms, and streaming algorithms.
Industry experience in software engineering
Salary: 73K - 86K USD a year
