An intermediate-level role within the Data Operations team, part of the Operations organization, serving all departments at MIM Software with data and reporting solutions. This role is responsible for independently developing and managing BI solutions to support diverse business needs. Focuses on descriptive analytics, creating insightful reports and dashboards in Power BI, and leveraging SQL with dbt Cloud for more complex data preparation and reporting, including contributing to KPI development. Begins to identify opportunities for analytical improvements across various business units.
Job Description
What You'll Do:
Technical Execution: Independently design, develop, and maintain robust BI solutions, including reports and interactive dashboards in Power BI. Utilize SQL and dbt Cloud for data extraction, transformation, and building/maintaining reporting data models.
Problem Solving & Analysis: Proactively help stakeholders frame their problems to enable effective solution building. Conduct descriptive analyses to identify trends, patterns, and insights that address business questions, occasionally identifying opportunities beyond initial requests.
KPI Development & Reporting: Contribute to the definition, creation, and maintenance of team-specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within BI reports and dashboards.
Communication & Collaboration: Communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders to gather requirements, present findings, and provide training on BI tools. Document key learnings and empower team members.
Reporting & BI Application Development: Lead the development of BI applications and sophisticated reports. Manage ad hoc requests efficiently.
- Autonomy & Process Improvement: Organize efforts with minimal guidance. Identify communication gaps and suggest improvements to BI processes or existing use cases.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics) OR equivalent relevant industry experience.
Typically requires 3-5 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related field.
Proven experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI expertise highly preferred) and strong SQL skills.
Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (experience building/maintaining reporting data models in dbt Cloud preferred).
Solid understanding of descriptive analytics, data warehousing principles, and data visualization best practices.
Ability to solve complex problems using novel approaches and manage multiple tasks with minimal coordination.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Typically requires 3-5 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or a related field.
