The hiring team has noted that their ideal candidate would have at least 1 year of either ICU or ED experience
Weekend Requirement: 3-4 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling period
Call Requirement: 3-4 on-call shifts in a 6-week scheduling period (more rare to get called in)
What you'll need:
1 year of relevant RN experience
Active RN license
Graduate of an approved discipline program
What You'll Do:
The person in this role will work a hybrid of Radiology Resource nursing and Nuclear Medicine.
The Resource RN will float around between MRI, ROCU (Recovery and Observation Care Unit for IR patients), Pet Floro, CT and IV Cubby and will act as a resource to various areas of Radiology. The person in this role will be the first to respond to a stat or rapid call, access port, monitor pace makers, etc.
Nuclear medicine nurse responsibilities include:
Cardiac stress perfusion studies on mostly adults but also on children
Stress testing in the PET departmentMost of the nuclear stress testing is done on inpatients. We generally use Regadenoson, Adenosine, Dobutamine or treadmills to accomplish this.
We do Viability studies in PET to test for hibernating myocardium using high dose insulin gtts combined with glucose and potassium.
We do brain mappings/ stress with Diamox or adenosine.
Nurses perform sarcoid studies in PET using heparin.
We monitor mapping patients after procedures in Interventional Radiology.
Coronary CTAs are done regularly utilizing metoprolol IV, diltiazem IV and nitroglycerin.
Help thyroid cancer patients with prepping them for Iodine therapies and testing.
We teach the nuclear medicine students the patient care curriculum in the allied health program. The main topics are direct patient care, vital signs, and EKG rhythm interpretation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
