Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a full-time, Data Scientist proficient in Data Analysis, Geospatial data analysis, and statistical modeling to provide Data Analytics support for transportation projects across several of Moffatt & Nichol’s business areas. This position will be primarily remote-based, with occasional office and client travel required. Moffatt & Nichol’s transportation and Data Analytics team supports a broad range of engineering and planning projects throughout the country and data staff have the opportunity to work and gain experience in many different practice areas, according to business needs.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Perform advanced data analytics and Statistical modeling, including the use of big data analytics working with large static and near real time streaming data sources
- Meet with team members and clients to determine appropriate approaches to data analytics, including defining performance measures and statistical analysis
- Create and generate detailed reports, documentation, and user interactive dashboard based on data analytics, including GIS and PowerBI
- Manage and monitor cloud based data analytics platform(s), such as Databricks or others, for the purpose of providing efficient data analytics
- Promotes the success of the team through individual initiative, cooperation to achieve common goals and accommodation to change
- Research best practices in data management and analytics and remain current with industry trends and innovation
- Oversee project and task development, including providing support to junior level professionals
- Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, statistical analysis, GIS, planning, geography or a related field; required
- 10+ years of related experience, with 5+ focused in data science; required
- 5+ years of experience in Transportation engineering consulting; required
- Ability to analyze transportation data sources and identify performance metrics in speed performance, travel patterns, and other key metric areas
- Experience in evaluating and developing statistical models and pipelines across data metrics
- Exceptional communication skills used when meeting with officials, clients, and other team members
- Experience utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) software to conduct analysis and develop maps and dashboards
- Experience working in various database software programs including Microsoft Suite
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Availability and willingness to travel
