Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC Pacific) is seeking a self-directed and motivated individual to join our team as a network engineer in support of the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) Network. Primary work location is at Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific in San Diego, CA. This position requires a DoD TS/SCI clearance. In this role, you will provide network engineering support to NIWC Pacific Code 875. As a JWICS network engineer, you will be responsible for configuring and maintaining Cisco network devices, Palo Alto firewall appliances and TACLANE (KG175) Type-1 encryptors on seven NIWC Pacific campuses. You will also be responsible for deploying and maintaining Cisco Voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephones, Desktop Video Teleconference (dVTC) and Studio Video Teleconference (sVTC) devices.
The primary duties and responsibilities for this position, minimum required skills, and additional requested qualifications and experience are listed below.
Requirements
- At least 2-4 years of experience in DoD Network Engineering.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to ensure optimum productivity.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, with managers, supervisor, peers, and customers.
- Ability to work collaboratively, independently, and to take initiative.
- Ability to quickly grasp and implement technical concepts.

- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in network engineering.
- An understanding of network security best practices.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision on assigned tasks.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
Personnel Clearance Level:
- Candidate must possess an active, DoD issued TS/SCI security clearance.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Engineering from a university or accredited college, or 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Mandatory Certifications:
- Hold active Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent level of vendor certifications.
- Hold active CompTIA Security+ or CCNA Security, or higher certification. (e.g., CISSP)
