Title

Director of Nursing Cardiovascular Services and MICU

Accountable for planning, organizing, and directing the operations of the following areas: System accountabilities for Cardiovascular Services covering all 4 facilities. Assignments are typically in the form of broad goals with a focus on outcome achievement. Incumbents have substantial latitude in setting objectives and deciding how to proceed with projects and outcomes. The System Director retains operational accountability for BMH Perioperative Services and other areas as identified; and has non-operational accountability for BBC, BLH and South Haven. This role is responsible for system wide planning, coordinating, and ensuring consistency in the operations for the Bronson system’s perioperative services. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Master’s degree in Nursing or related field and 5-7 years’ progressively more responsible experience in the health care field (such experience should include management one or more areas of medical services at the department head level) required Licensed RN in good standing with the state of Michigan required. Current license in area of specialty preferred Membership in professional organization related to area • Working knowledge of nursing standards a must • Email, word processing and spreadsheet skills • Leadership skills • Goal setting • Financial Acumen • Project management • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects • Ability to organize work and meet deadlines • Written and verbal acumen • Skill and ability to drive collegial and coordinated leadership for system perioperative areas • Interpersonal skill set to work with all levels of multidisciplinary teams both clinical and non-clinical • Strong communication skill set to ensure understanding and communication up and down the chain of command Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects. System accountabilities • Management of process, policy and procedure and clinical protocols and order sets of the perioperative service areas for BMH, BBC, BLH, and South Haven Hospital. • Works with Directors, managers and members of the medical staff as appropriate in the development of goals, scorecards, objectives, tactics and plans for the components for which he or she is responsible. • Builds strong collegial and collaborative relationships across clinical and non-clinical areas. • Ensures accurate and timely communication to key stakeholders for all projects that are related to Respiratory Care Services. • Coordinates and attends regular meetings/discussions with Managers and Executives. • Responsible for the deployment, integration, and modeling of the behaviors and standards of Bronson’s Plan for Excellence in areas of direct responsibility and throughout the entire Bronson Healthcare Group. • Responsible for making timely decisions and taking necessary action related to the readiness for, and compliance with, the requirements of internal and external bodies, involving compliance, accreditation, auditing, and other regulations required of Bronson Healthcare Group. • Identifies, analyzes and documents implementation and completion of strategic goals. • Assists and coordinates development of metrics and targets for the system areas of accountabilities in conjunction with the facility leadership. • Policy/Procedure. Formulates and/or coordinates the development of policies and protocols for the system and secures approval of policies/protocols in a timely manner. Develops and administers procedures necessary to implement approved policies/protocols and provides the overall direction necessary to ensure efficient and effective services. • Coordinates the review evaluation and selection of equipment purchasing based on evidence based medicine for consistency and standardization across the system as appropriate. • Actively participates with Epic I
