TITLE

Manager, Nursing Student Services

JOB SUMMARY 

Leads and oversees day-to-day operations of the nursing student services department.  Coordinates communication and directives ensuring cohesiveness between academic programs and staff directed processes supporting those programs. Manages the admissions, progression and graduation procedures in collaboration with faculty and/or administration of students for all of the academic programs offered in the College of Nursing. Provides expertise in planning and ongoing supervision to all of the academic support operations of the college in all locations, Denton, Dallas, and Houston, and online programs.  Supports operations to include activities such as student advising, preparation, monitoring of matriculation, maintenance data including paper or electronic student files, ongoing email, mail and phone contact with students and designated office support functions for departmental faculty involved in developing admissions criteria and developing student success programs. Work is performed under minimal supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and attainment of organizational goals. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures. 

 ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:      Associate Dean, Nursing 

Supervises:     Academic Advisors, Project Coordinators, Program Staff, Volunteers, Graduate Assistants, and Student Assistants

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

  1. Provides leadership to a team focused to ensure compliance matters with student processes related to admissions, progression, and graduation (APG).
  2. Develops and implements APG procedures for Denton, Dallas and Houston nursing programs, maintains advisors handbook. 
  3. Sets and monitors timelines, manages student databases with regard to accuracy/quality, ranking, etc.
  4. Manages all special programs related to nursing admissions, such as the ROTC, MECP, AECP, Early Admissions Programs.
  5. Supervises and coordinates efforts of the Denton, Dallas and Houston Nursing student services staff, making sure all are informed and providing the most current and accurate information to students.
  6. Works closely with program directors and program faculty to assure processes are followed appropriately and in a timely fashion. 
  7. Develops and provides informational programs related to APG for groups of students, faculty, program directors, and other stakeholders. 
  8. Collaborates with other departments at TWU to develop and implement strong APG processes for the university.
  9. Develops, disseminates, and maintains all literature designed to enhance APG of the CON. 
  10. Develops, routinely reviews and maintains all documentation related to policies, procedures and guidelines for APG in the CON.
  11. Provides data analysis and interpretation of data for administration and faculty to assist in the development of evidence-based APG policies in the CON. 
  12. Generates and verifies various data for official reports for the Board of Nursing, accreditation and other entities in collaboration with the Data Manager.
  13. Works to offer full scope of programming in admissions, progression and evaluation.
  14. Establishes job standards for subordinate staff and effectively evaluates staff under charge.  The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Participates in staff position search committees, both within and outside of the College of Nursing. 
  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION 

Master's degree in education, management, or college/university student services, or similar or directly related degree required. 

EXPERIENCE

Two years’ experience in higher education required. Leadership or management experience also required.
