About the role
Description
The Financial Advisor is responsible for the daily functions of the revenue cycle of the practice and serves as the key point of service collections, account and claim resolution and other duties as assigned, to ensure efficient operations of practice.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall revenue cycle.
- Communicating and working collaboratively with our billing company, physicians and staff to optimize collection for services rendered.
- Responsible for patient responsibility payments, payment plans, time of service collections and outstanding balances.
- Communicating and educating patients regarding the insurance process and patient responsible amounts for services rendered.
- Accountable for designated accounts receivable reduction and maintenance.
- Investigates and addresses problems, complaints and other billing issues.
- Assist physicians and clinic staff with account and claim issues.
- Answer telephone calls in a timely manner, following-up or redirecting as needed.
- Document all patient account actions in the electronic health system including insurance phone calls, faxes, pre-certifications, follow-up activities, etc.
- Check faxes and messages and performs work necessary to respond to them.
- Communicate all staff issues/concerns to Patient Services Manager.
- Communicate all physician issues to Patient Services Manager.
- Complete other comparable duties and assignments as directed by the Patient Services Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years knowledge experience in a revenue cycle/medical billing setting.
- Outpatient orthopaedic experience preferred.
- Certified Coder a plus
- Familiarity with rules and regulations of health insurance industry.
- Knowledge of commercial insurance and government payer guidelines
- Medical background a plus.
- Experience with Allscripts Vision, Allscripts Professional, Intergy or Care Tracker, SRS, Optimis preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous knowledge of Full-Cycle Revenue Management
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of a changing scheduling environment and accommodate the needs of the practice.
- Possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications. Able to interact with computers to set-up functions, enter data or process information.
- Must be a self-starter, highly organized with good time management skills.
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to document/record information.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients, insurance providers, and staff in all levels in the organization. Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
- Capable of prioritizing and organizing information to achieve a smooth flow of tasks.
- Ability to interpret and explain an extensive variety of instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience with medical billing software preferred.
