Position Overview

Kiewit seeks a detail-oriented, solutions-minded Marketing Communications Specialist to join our Energy & Industrial Marketing & Proposals Team. The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of strategic and tactical marketing deliverables that contribute to acquiring new business. The ideal candidate works well both individually and on a team, enjoys learning new tasks and skills, has a positive attitude, and is self-motivated.

District Overview

The Kiewit Energy marketing, creative and proposal team provide get-work services to an array of markets, including power generation, transmission and distribution, renewables, industrial, oil and gas, and water/wastewater. Individuals in this department get exposure to a mix of high profile, complex pursuits across North America valued from $5M-$6B. This incredibly profitable, competitive, fun group focuses on winning more work with high-quality, client-focused sales strategies through creative communication techniques. Our rapidly growing team, which includes graphic designers, proposal professionals, writers, digital strategists, marketers, and data analytics brings vast experience, communication expertise, innovative concepts, and best practices to all projects we support across the company. 

Location

This position can be based out of our Lenexa, KS office in the greater Kansas City area. Opportunities for flexible work are available. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business line team leaders to strategize, develop, and implement marketing initiatives to position the firm, drive sales, and achieve business goals. 
  • Support the development of internal and external marketing and communications deliverables, including PowerPoint presentations, marketing collateral, events-related materials, videos, and more, adhering to Kiewit’s brand voice and visual standards.
  • Research, outline, format, write and copyedit compelling and engaging technical and nontechnical content for client-facing marketing materials.
  • Facilitate meetings, manage the schedule of assigned deliverables that follow standard operating procedures and meet deadlines/timely submissions. 
  • Use our historical project experience database to create captivating messages that tell our unique story; contribute to/maintain our centralized experience database with relevant data and information. 
  • Collaborate with your graphic designers, events planners, data analysts, proposals, and marketing staff to support your projects.
  • Perform other departmental or administrative duties as needed, including proposal support, internal communications, meeting support, document formatting, copyediting, production and shipping.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, journalism, business or related field
  • 2-5+ years of corporate marketing or communications experience, portfolio required 
  • Experience in the A/E/C industry preferred. Power OR Power Delivery engineering or construction is a plus. 
  • Solutions-provider mentality with the ability to work well independently and with others; maintains a positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Strong writing and editing skills. Knowledge of AP Style is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, meticulous attention to detail and consistency in work product
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to professionally incorporate constructive feedback
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Occasional (less than 10%) travel is required.
