Mines Recreational Sports department is seeking a part-time coordinator to support the marketing and communication efforts for the department. The Rec. Sports Marketing Coordinator will market and communicate to our student body and the greater campus community through various channels. This position will develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive marketing plan for Rec. Sports, including but not limited to Intramurals, Club Sports, Fitness, Aquatics, Outdoor Rec. Center, the Student Recreation Center as well as other Rec. Sports facilities.The Marketing Coordinator will manage Rec. Sports social media accounts and email newsletters, designing in print and digital marketing materials, updating the Rec Sports website, and taking photo and video at various Rec Sports events, among other tasks. Collaboration with students and pro staff is a regular part of this role. This is a hybrid work environment, splitting time between on and off campus work settings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and create content for department social media accounts
- Create and send out weekly email newsletter
- Design and print monthly marketing materials
- Support the management of the department website
- Create content to be utilized in various media formats using photography, video, and graphic design skills
- Design, purchase, and disseminate branded promotional items
- Manage a marketing budget, including quarterly reports
- Manage communications between the Rec. Sports department and the campus community, including announcements, hours of operation, closures and schedule changes.
- Use analytics to evaluate and improve marketing efforts
- Promote and foster an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity through marketing efforts
- Use social media platforms to engage and inspire students, faculty, and staff to be active, while increasing participation in the wide range of Rec Sports programming
- Implement strategic marketing, sponsorship, and brand management goals for the department
- Act as a brand ambassador and assist in the management of department and university brand standards
- Oversee and maintain the department radio station (Neptune Radio) announcements marketing communications
- Coordinate sponsorships and fundraising for the Rec. Sports Department
- Develop marketing and branding strategies using several disciplines, including but not limited to text, design, video, guides, research, infographics, etc.
- Collaborate with Rec Sports staff to achieve program specific marketing needs
- Collaborate with the Rec. Sports staff to further develop, implement and evaluate a creative marketing plan for the department ensuring deadlines are met, and goals are achieved.
- Support and train marketing student employees who work for the various programs within Rec. Sports.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish strong relationships with campus partners to further the Rec. Sports goals and core values
- Develop monthly reports and procedures that quantify and demonstrate the impacts of our marketing efforts
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate student staff to support our marketing plan
- Occasionally travel on Outdoor Recreation Center’s trips or other programs activities to photograph and video for marketing materials
- Manage communications for last minute closures and facility operations emergencies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, media arts, recreation, or other related fields
- Successful marketing and promotional experience
- Experience in social media marketing, graphic design, email marketing, digital marketing and website management
- Creativity and creative writing skills
- Technical photography/videography skills and graphic design skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Knowledge on current marketing trends
- First Aid and CPR certification required or must be obtained within one month of employment
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Experience utilizing various computer programs including Canva, MailChimp, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator, Life Fitness and Precor screen managers, Fusion, Sidearm (website management), Neptune radio, Engage Screen Management, Social Media Scheduling Software, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
