Purpose

Identify, develop, and manage KOL relationships within the assigned territory in-line with the overall medical strategy within the covering therapeutic area(s)
•    Provide leadership in assigned therapeutic area for field-based Medical Science Liaisons (MSL) who interact with health care providers (HCPs) and institutions on behalf of Chiesi GRD Medical Affairs Department
•    Serve as the organizational conduit from US Medical Affairs management to field based MSLs for strategic direction and tactical activities to facilitate and provide scientific information exchange in support of approved uses of Chiesi GRD marketed products
•    Provide guidance and support for compliant scientific information exchange in response to unsolicited requests for off-label clinical applications 
•    Support the Head of Medical Affairs Field Team in ensuring field medical strategy and tactics are successfully employed and benchmarked

Main Responsibilities

MSL Territory Management and KOL Engagement
As Player/Coach role the candidate will be responsible to manage a territory including:
•    Identify and develop key thought leaders (national, regional, and local) for medical education, clinical research and publication opportunities
•    Identify and build new collaborative KOL relationships for advisory boards, company-sponsored and investigator-initiated research and speaker development
•    Identify opportunities and provide medical support including scientific education to healthcare professionals (HCPs) at key institutions
•    Foster professional relationships in key institutions for Chiesi’s Rare Disease Business Unit
•    Collaborate with the Regional and Global Medical Function to execute Global and Regional Medical Plans
•    Partner cross-functionally in assigned region to optimize product strategy alignment and medical input to interdepartmental projects
•    Provide field-based medical affairs assistance for clinical research initiatives supported by Chiesi or related to investigator-initiated research
•    Represent Chiesi at meetings and conferences, and in other interactions with key opinion leaders
•    Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence from multiple sources in accordance with company policies
•    Report on scientific exchange discussions and MSL activities with KOLs/TLs, institutions and organizations
