Senior Chemistry Specialist

Join us in this role where you’ll be a key player solving challenges within the area of chemistry. You’ll cover areas such as knowledge build-up and project execution within carbon capture, fire safety related to chemical self-heating processes during biomass storage and utilisation, and biomass characterisation. You’ll take on challenges with wood dust during storage, handling of biomass, and ash chemistry modelling to secure compliance with regulatory frameworks.

You’ll be part of the Chemistry team where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for activities within carbon capture and operations support and optimisation and development tasks related to thermal power plants, water chemistry and flue gas chemistry, lubricates, fuels and ash products, and biomass fire safety. You’ll play an important role in:

• contributing with knowledge to our commercial carbon capture projects and carbon capture knowledge build up through technology development activities
• supporting our thermal power plants in Denmark, mainly within the areas of fire safety related to chemical self-heating processes during storage and utilisation
• providing technical guidance in safe handling and processing of biomass, incl. protocols for e.g., temperature monitoring
• contributing to the promotion of our internal fire safety strategy of biomass storages, incl. coordination with stakeholders at the plants and harbours, etc.
• leading technical development projects on biomass characterisation, degassing, and self-heating mechanisms of biomass
• coordinating activities such as analysis programs and ash chemistry modelling to secure compliance with regulatory frameworks.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

• have a masters or Ph.D. degree within chemical engineering or chemistry
• have experience with one or more tasks as addressed above
• have a proactive and systematic approach to trouble shooting
• possess strong communication skills with regards to complex problems and solutions to stakeholders, and possibly stakeholders with a distinct, different professional background
• thrive in a strong, professional environment, where teamwork, active knowledge sharing and creation, and maintenance of good relationships with your colleagues and business partners are of high importance.
