POSITION PURPOSE
The Certified Field Technician is responsible for conducting energy audits to evaluate energy usage at client properties and for informing and educating property owners on how to save energy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conducts thorough inspections of client properties to evaluate the condition of insulation, lighting, HVAC systems, and other major energy-consuming appliances.
- Performs infrared scanning, blower door tests, duct blaster testing, and other specialized building science evaluations as required.
- Identifies and prioritizes energy saving measures and recommends energy efficient technologies or alternate energy sources.
- Prepares job specification sheets for home energy improvements as necessary.
- Directly installs compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), showerheads, aerators, and other products at client properties that are designed to increase energy efficiency and support sustainable living.
- Tracks and documents inspection procedures, audit results, products installed, miles traveled, and hours worked on each site.
- Interacts with tenants and property personnel, informing them of any energy issues, educating them on energy efficiency, explaining the inspection process and installations, and answering questions or concerns.
- Plans and schedules audits.
- Contacts clients and asks questions about their project as required.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Provides weekly activity reports to Project Coordinator.
- Participates in continued education and training courses as appropriate to maintain relevant certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- High school diploma/GED.
- One to two years of experience in building/construction, residential inspection, and/or energy auditing.
- RESNET Certified Energy Rater and/or Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Professional.
- Valid driver’s license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Proficiency using a computer, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the internet; experience with RemRate or other energy audit software preferred.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including printers, copiers, fax machines, and phones.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong listening skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to make judgments based on interpretation of information.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage tasks and time effectively.
- Ability to coordinate work with other departments or external constituents.
- Strong mathematical abilities (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, and ratios), including the ability to process data and calculate square and cubic footage.
