Description

Summary:  The general purpose of this position is to coordinate and actively participate in the portioning and racking of the products we produce. Carries out the responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. To facilitate the efficient operation of formulating sausage products through organization and intervention of formulation machines and line workers, and all aspects of Departmental functions, while maintaining Quality standards.

 

Responsibilities/Duties: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Minimum expectations include but are not limited to:

  • Assuring minimum and maximum weight and length restrictions are observed.
  • Responsible for product quality, workmanship, and methods applications resulting in above standard economical manufacturing costs and general line administration.
  • The individual should possess the ability to bend, twist, lift, and possess good hand dexterity.
  • Take responsibility in your work area to produce a safe and quality food product.  Report all food safety and quality related problems to your supervisor, manager, or to the QA department to initiate immediate action.

Qualifications

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:

  • Required education is a high school diploma or a GED; 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet, humid, refrigerated, or freezer conditions consistent with working in a food processing facility.  The noise level in the work environment is very loud. The employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and vibration. Company provides: rubber gloves, metal gloves, cooler coats, sleeve protectors, aprons, bump cap, hair net, beard net, and ear plugs.
