Description

 What You Will Do
  • Accurately processes, tracks and files patient charts, and ensures META applications are properly updated. Seeks assistance from senior co-workers or supervisor when needed.
  • Accurately pulls and/or copies medical records for authorized users (i.e. physicians, clinicians, auditors, etc.). Assists physicians who come in to complete charts.
  • Picks up discharges/charts from patient care divisions for scanning.
  • Professionally interacts with hospital personnel, vendors and patients.
  • Provides updates to the MPI for changes to Name, Sex and DOB as needed for patient care.
  • Provides departmental cross coverage as needed.
  • Maintains neat and organized work area.
  • Provides assistance with approving proxy requests.
  • Preps and scans documents and paper charts into OnBase according to established guidelines/standards.
  • Destroys scanned records according to the GM1 destruction policy.
  • Provides customer service assistance to both internal and external customers.
  • Answers and respond to HIS phone call requests.
  • Processes storage chart retrieval requests for both patient and non patient care.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
 

Qualifications

 Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
Work Experience
  • less than 1 year clerical experience (Preferred) and
  • Previous H.I.S. experience (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Organized and detail-oriented. (Required proficiency)
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PCs and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of Soarian, Spheris and/or Eclyps. (Preferred proficiency)
