What We Offer

This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week. The hiring hourly rate for this position is $22.01/hour - $25.50/hour, based on experience, and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits.

Schedule and Work Location

This position will primarily be housed out of the Harvey Park Recreation Center (2120 S. Tennyson Way, Denver) and will not work remotely. The typical work schedule for this position will fall on weekdays (Monday – Friday) with the occasional weekend or holiday, dependent on program needs and special events. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week.

What You’ll Do

The City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is committed to connecting communities to Colorado’s amazing outdoor spaces by providing unique, fun, and engaging programs to individuals of all ages and abilities. These exciting and uniquely Colorado programs include climbing, BMX, mountain biking, skateboarding, the Ruby Hill rail yard, bike park permitting, mobile rock wall, grant reporting, and so much more. These programs often take place at some of Colorado’s most sought-after outdoor spaces including various Denver urban and mountain parks, skateparks, and bike parks.

DPR’s Alternative Sports Team is seeking a part-time Administrative Support Assistant (ASA IV) to join the team. The Administrative Support Assistant, working collaboratively with Program Coordinators and the Senior Supervisor, will be responsible for managing the administrative functions of the Alternative Sports program area. This position will primarily be housed out of the Harvey Park Recreation Center (2120 S. Tennyson Way, Denver). The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday – Friday with the occasional weekend or holiday, dependent on program needs and special events.

Programs and activities that fall within the purview of Alternative Sports include biking (inclusive of BMX, E-bike rides, Learn-to-Bike, mountain biking), climbing on artificial rock walls (Carla Madison Recreation Center and the department’s portable rock wall), roller-skating, skateboarding, disc golf, oversight of Ruby Hill Railyard, and a variety of other program offerings happening within Denver’s Urban Parks System for participants of all ages.

As an Administrative Support Assistant supporting the Alternative Sports Team, you will:

  • Perform grant reporting related duties including collecting data and submitting claims to support grant-related funding requirements

  • Utilize ActiveNet membership tracking systems to input data, create, edit, and compile reports

  • Work with Program Coordinators to report/track program attendance, membership participation, and other necessary information for tracking and billing purposes

  • Support purchasing, billing, and asset inventory

  • Administer and review program participant evaluation instruments for assigned programs; analyze and use findings to increase program and instructional effectiveness

  • Aid Program Coordinators with communicating staff, volunteer, candidate selection, and customer schedules, distributing available resources, and assisting with record-keeping

  • Partner with Marketing and Communications Department to publicize Alternative Sports programs by creating and producing materials and developing web-based content

  • Engage in community outreach activities to secure community acceptance and increase participation in programming by distributing printed materials, collaborating with recreation centers, Denver Public Schools, and community partners

  • Support functions for Alternative Sports activities, programs, permits, and events including open enrollments in our ActiveNet Membership tracking system and group enrollments
