Job Description Summary
The Digital Experience Designer plays a crucial role on the creative team, responsible for developing and implementing strategic design concepts and creating visual solutions to web-based challenges. This position focuses on constructing robust digital products and crafting exceptional CMS implementations that leave both users and clients in awe of their functionality. This role requires a combination of advanced development skills and CMS expertise to create scalable, maintainable, and captivating digital experiences that stand the test of time and propel the institution into the future.The designer is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining visually compelling digital elements,
Including webpages and assets. This work involves both hands-on coding and leveraging no-code tools to enhance the aesthetic and functional qualities of web-based platforms.
Collaboration is a key component of this position, requiring close work with the Marketing and Communications team, including the Director, Digital Marketing and UX Manager, and Editorial Manager, as well as the IT department—particularly the Web Developer. Together, the team ensures all web-based platforms are highly designed, accurately maintained, fully optimized, and running efficiently.
The successful candidate must consider cognitive, cultural, physical, and social factors in designing for target audiences and possess the ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote user-centered design principles, accessibility, and inclusion across all visual touchpoints of the digital experience.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and adhering to production schedules.
- Apply best practices for mobile and web design, focusing on usability and accessibility.
- Gather relevant information through collaboration with team members, clients, and independent research.
- Analyze client objectives to develop strategic concepts and effective design solutions.
- Create detailed design briefs by synthesizing information and conducting research.
- Utilize appropriate visual communication methods, including color, typography, illustration, photography, and motion design, to meet objectives.
- Implement web updates as needed to maintain content and functionality.
- Adhere to and maintain current brand and style guidelines in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets accessibility standards and best practices.
- Stay current with industry standards, software, and emerging technologies.
- Coordinate with the Project and Operations Manager to adhere to project timelines.
- Present ideas and concepts to stakeholders, fostering relationships and becoming a trusted advisor.
- Supervise and manage student workers, overseeing their contributions to animation and digital design needs while tracking and approving their hours.
- Critique and review student work to ensure design solutions meet quality and branding standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and Experience
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in web design and/or development, graphic design, visual communications, computer graphics, multimedia, or related field; Or completion of a comparable certificate program; Or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 3 years of related experience and/or training, including:
- Front-end web development, including JavaScript/T
