About the role

Our partner is seeking a CRA Mortgage Loan Originator in Charlotte, NC. This position involves originating residential 1st mortgage loans, focusing on selling CRA products and services to low to moderate-income individuals, areas, and non-profit organizations. The Mortgage Loan Originator will be responsible for managing the entire loan process from application to closing while adhering to policies and procedures and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop CRA prospects and referral contacts, including realtors, builders, professional, and personal contacts.
  • Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about available loan products, processing procedures, underwriting, and departmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate and conduct homebuyer-training seminars for potential CRA applicants.
  • Handle employee loans and participate in relevant functions to promote employee loans.
  • Follow established protocol for escalating exceptions.
  • Collect applicant information by completing Fannie Mae form 1003 on a laptop.
  • Utilize the laptop for communication, accessing daily rates, applicant credit reports, Loan Prospector responses, and transmitting the loan.
  • Gather necessary documentation from each applicant and deliver the loan package within set time frames.
  • Manage the pipeline for all originated loans through closing and generate required management reports.
  • Provide timely updates and progress reports to applicants and referral sources.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service while managing applicant and support staff expectations.
  • Attend and participate in all Consumer Lending meetings as required.
  • Obtain SAFE Act registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) at the time of employment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (mandatory); four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
  • Familiarity with residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Understanding of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mortgage lending experience.
  • Established local book of referral sources.
  • Sales of $1 million per month.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration required through NMLS at the time of employment.
  • Basic sales technique skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
