Position Specific Description

We are seeking an entry-level software engineer to join our New Product Engineering team in St. Paul. Our SDEs work in a fast-paced environment alongside data and research scientists to deliver innovative forecasting and optimization solutions for the energy industry. Engineers contribute to all phases of the software development life cycle and are encouraged to use the technical stack that best aligns with the problems they're solving.  Providing software development support for existing products is also required, including periodic after hours support for urgent issues. Recent projects have included AWS serverless, Grafana, TimescaleDB, Vue 3, and Python or Rust. We follow an onsite work schedule with teams collaborating in-person.   

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and deliver industry-leading technology solutions to complex energy challenges
  • Code in multiple languages, Python, Rust and Vue.js preferred
  • Conduct system testing and create unit tests for new and existing features
  • Write technical documentation for requirements and system architecture
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including requirements refinement, estimation, standups, and retrospectives
  • Collaborate with others software design and system architecture 

Job Overview

This position writes and tests software to aid in development and support of products.  Individuals in this role assist in software design, typically working within a design framework laid out by technical leads.  This position participates in required product development process ceremonies.  Employees in this role are responsible for writing and refining technical requirements and technical design documentation.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Codes in multiple languages in support of software products and the development of software products
  • Conducts system testing and codes unit tests and support features
  • Documents technical requirement and other technical documentation
  • Works with product team to refine product requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The estimated base pay for this position is $82,400.00 to $123,600.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
