Summary:
The role of this position is to provide a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment by effectively performing skilled trade maintenance, new installation, and repair work. The BME - Plumber is a skilled trade person responsible for evaluating, repairing, and replacing a variety of plumbing facility components to ensure equipment is fully operational and meets university standards. This position will be involved in corrective and preventive maintenance and minor alteration work and may oversee temporary labor and/or other trade persons or contractors as required and provide technical oversight for all plumbing work. This position requires general supervision and often works independently and is familiar and comfortable with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Essential Functions:
Repair or replace plumbing fixtures and equipment such as sinks, toilets, water heaters, garbage, disposal units, sewage and sump pumps, circulating pumps, water valves, and other associated plumbing related equipment. Repair or replace burst or leaking pipes and clear clogged drains.
Repair, replace, and unstops HVAC systems to ensure they are operational. Works on condensate lines, drip pans, fan coil units, and compressor lines to ensure equipment is working up to university standards.
Clears waste and debris from site drains, to ensure correct disposal. Repairs and maintains campus wide sanitary, sewer and water distribution systems.
Respond to and/or initiate emails as needed and/or required. Escort and provide access to contractors, providing support and oversight as needed. Attend in person or online meetings and training sessions to enhance skills, ability, and job performance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time.
40 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$25.00 - $29.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
