The purpose of this position is to fulfill the mission of Hope for Tomorrow Counseling by providing professional counseling, primarily to children and adolescents in a public school-based setting. Additionally this position includes, but is not limited to, being an advocate and resource to students, families, and staff by providing training, psychoeducation, staffing, processing, assisting individuals with applying for Medicaid, and linking to other resources.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, approximately 7:30am-3pm with potential for flexibility when school is not in session.

Essential Functions
Provides individual, group, and family therapy to clients primarily in a school-based setting with some sessions occurring in an outpatient office, as needed.
Schedules sessions with clients, takes payments, and issues receipts.
Ensures that counseling sessions begin and end on time.
Collaboratively integrates into the public school setting to include following school policies and procedures, school schedule, and other requests from school administration.
Completes all required paperwork for client charts and billing in a timely manner.
Complies with all applicable requirements needed to remain in good standing with the Virginia licensing board.
Coordinates services with a multidisciplinary team including, but not limited to, public school administrators and counselors, social workers, administrative staff, medical staff, and community agencies.
Develops and implements individualized client-centered treatment plans which are trauma-informed, sensitive to developmental needs and attachment styles, and family inclusive as appropriate.
Flexible to adapt to change including, but not limited to, school schedules, Five18/HFT schedules, policies and procedures, and worksite location.
Maintains client confidentiality and other ethical standards outlined by the state licensing board and the ACA code of ethics.
Participates in clinical supervision, administrative supervision, or consultation as directed and needed.
Participates in HFT and Five18 Family Services staff meetings.
Participates in Trauma-Informed Care training and Teaching-Family Model training as directed by the Director of Clinical Services.
Serves as a liaison between clients, families, public schools, departments within Five18 Family Services, and various other community agencies and organizations.
Deliverables:
The School Based Counselor will meet with students, families, and staff as scheduled to provide quality counseling and mental health services, advocacy, education, training, resources, and networking. They will maintain and monitor their schedules while providing the number of clinical sessions and meetings each week as agreed upon in collaboration with the school-based services coordinator.
