About the role
The Senior IT Project Manager is accountable for the organization and management of IT projects across all three GBMC work systems – Hospital, Health Partners and Gilchrist. The Senior IT Project Manager focuses on leading and/or assisting leaders in the initation, planning, designing, implementation, enhancement of new and existing systems and technologies. The Senior IT Project Manager acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of team members from the IT department, across the organization, other organizational Project Managers, vendors, third-party contractors, and consultants to successfully complete approved strategic and tactical projects. The Senior IT Project Manager ensures that projects are properly documented and/or assists with process creation per PMO standards, provides thoughtful leadership and project portfolio level reporting to Leadership, including the VP/Operation Committee as required.
Education
- Degree or certification preferred in IT or project management.
Experience
- 5 to 7 years overall experience in project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Skills
- Proven experience managing multiple high visibility and/or complex projects , meet deadlines, interface with different internal and external business units, and work in a fast-paced technology driven environment
- Demonstrable communication skills for engaging with stakeholders across various skillsets to obtain essential project requirements, understand issues and risks for the project, and drive positive project results
- Ability to critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and abstract low-level information to a more general understanding
- Ability to decompose a project into distinct work packages and determine appropriate resource requirements for each work package
- Ability to distinguish user requests from the underlying business needs and distinguish solution ideas from requirements
- Proven skills in the effective use of project management software
- Ability to build strong relationships and gain trust with peers and leaders to to establish goals, objectives, action plans, and produce desired outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Acute analytical, problem solving and planning
- Strong and broad based (IT) technical skill set and understanding
- Ability to lead teams internal and external to the organization across all three workstreams with littler intervention from leadership
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Mentor other project managers and assist the IT Program Manager in creating and improving upon the IT PMO operating procedures and standards
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work within the hospital facility
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are that of a normal office environment
- Some exposure to noise, dust, and unfavorable temperatures during project completion
- Occasional travel maybe required to offsite locations
- May includes On Call Responsibility

- Directing Others. Is good at establishing clear directions; sets stretch objectives and distributes project team members workload appropriately; lays out work in well organized manner; maintains dialogue with others on work and results; is a clear communicator.
- Drive for Results. Can be counted on to exceed goals; is constantly/consistently top performer; bottom line oriented; motivates/pushes self and others for not just action but results against defined goals for assigned
