ms consultants, inc. is actively seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer for immediate employment to work in our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office. The successful candidate will support the Water Resources group in leading projects and serving on project teams planning and designing water resources focused infrastructure for public works and privately owned projects.
What You'll Do:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of projects assigned to the water resources engineering division, as well as providing expertise to other company divisions. The candidate will be driven personally and professionally and poised for growth in the Pennsylvania market.
- Use knowledge of hydrologic, hydraulic and water quality analysis to perform calculations, computer modeling and design;
- Develop Hydrologic and Hydraulic models of municipal storm sewer and sanitary collection systems. Including analysis and design of municipal stormwater facilities (open channels, culverts, storm sewers, detention basins, green infrastructure, etc.).
- Prepare Drainage Studies and Stormwater Masterplans.
- Complete design work for storm water management/best management practices (BMPs), roadway drainage design, municipal stormwater improvements and flood mitigation, and erosion and sediment control.
- Work as part of a multi-discipline team to coordinate work with other design teams both inside and outside of the organization;
- Create construction drawings, technical reports and documents to support the water resources group on various projects;
- Keep informed of new developments and systems as they influence the division’s engineering practice and design. Manage design tasks, client interactions and perform engineering assignments requiring application of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria;
- Performing Quality Control of models, reports, and/or design.
- Understand and meet technical standards and regulatory requirements, from agencies including but not limited to PennDOT, PADEP, ACCD and City of Pittsburgh;
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to H&H/Water team staff.
- Perform project (i.e. manage project scope, schedule, and budget) and task management duties, as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other relevant field;
- Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain in 12 months;
- Relevant experience in Water Resources engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) and/or Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Professional (CPESC);
- Knowledge of Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, Allegheny County Sanitation Authority and/or PennDOT projects or tasks is preferred;
- Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of riverine and stormwater systems;
- Knowledge and experience with industry standard computer software required in the field, including software such as CADD, MicroStation, GIS, and Modeling Applications (SWMM, HEC-RAS (1D, 2D), HEC-HMS, etc.);
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project).
