About the role

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that
provides low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved
communities around the world.

Innovation is part of our DNA! Our goal is to be Earth's most customer centric company, and we
are just getting started. We need people who want to join an ambitious program that continues
to push the state of the art in distributed systems and hardware design.

The Sr. DSP System Engineer will tackle challenging, novel situations every day, and will design and develop digital signal processing algorithms in support of high bandwidth systems for RF and optical links from ground to space or space to space communication between satellites.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working on large-scale programs with a diverse set of talented individuals, as well as with partner organizations (including government agencies).

Key job responsibilities
  • Design and develop DSP algorithms and systems for signal processing, data analysis, and communication systems
  • Optimize and implement DSP architecture on hardware platforms, including digital signal processors, ASICs, and FPGAs.
  • Model and simulate DSP system performance including developing predictive tools characterizing system performance
  • Test and verify performance of DSP systems, troubleshooting issues during development and operation and support electrical bring-up, debug, and testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HW engineers, software developers, and embedded systems engineers to integrate DSP systems into larger systems or products.
  • Maintain a current expertise and knowledge of advanced DSP technologies and techniques including exploring potential applications to improve existing systems and or developing new applications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers and team members.
  • Document the design and implementation of DSP systems and prepare technical reports for stakeholders including customers and clients.
  • Implement DSP firmware to map high-level algorithms from development tooling (Matlab) to architecture-specific code

The role is located in Northridge, CA, and includes US relocation benefits.

Security Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI, so you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration.

A day in the life
The DSP system engineer typically involves designing and developing DSP algorithms and systems, optimizing and implementing then on hardware platforms, testing and verifying performance, and troubleshooting any issues. They collaborate with cross-functional teams, stay up-to-date with advances in DSP technologies, provide technical guidance, document their work, and present to stakeholders. They work on multiple simultaneous projects, patriciate in meetings, and manage their time effectively to meet project deadlines. Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation are essential for success in this role.
