Description:

The Office of Admissions at UW Bothell has an exciting opportunity for a student interested in gaining professional experience with social media, web editing, communications and more. Additionally, the Marketing Assistant Intern will learn about how the admissions process works in higher education.  

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions for Marketing and Communications and the Senior Marketing Assistant Intern, the intern will be responsible for assisting with Admissions marketing content creation and implementation for all media platforms including print, digital, email, SMS text and social media.  They must be comfortable pitching new ideas and writing subject matter that helps meet the UW Bothell Admissions goals.  The Intern must also be comfortable with frequent outreach and collaboration across campus with clubs, organizations, faculty, and other students for various projects.

We are looking for a responsible, organized, detail-oriented student who can take initiative on projects and possesses strong listening, reading comprehension, and writing skills The student much be comfortable working both collaboratively on a team as well as independently at times. The intern will be expected to effectively and efficiently carry out the designated duties listed below.

Requirement:

All new student employees must also complete UW's online Title IX course about preventing and responding to sex-and gender-based violence and harassment.

Qualifications

  • Current UW Bothell student
  • Enrolled in 6 or more undergraduate credits for the quarter
  • Contribute professionally and respectfully to our diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Must be teachable, reliable, respectful and maintain communication with your supervisor
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for UW Bothell
  • Excellent command of the rules of grammar, punctuation and syntax
  • Ability to handle difficult customer interactions and problem solve
  • Flexibility to adapt to different scenarios and answer questions appropriately
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Knowledgeable about UW Bothell programs, amenities and activities
  • Academic year-long commitment is preferred (Fall-Summer)
  • Familiarity with a variety of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, ZeeMee, and CampusESP preferred

General duties:

  • Collaborate with the Admissions Marketing & Communications Team to gain an understanding of how, what, and when we communicate to reach our primary audiences in admissions (prospective students)
  • Conceptualize, create and publish content that follows UW brand guidelines and helps meet UW Bothell Admissions communications goals
  • Regularly recruit UW Bothell students, staff and faculty to participate in diverse content creation 
  • Perform basic image, video and copy editing
  • Assist with research, analysis and reporting
  • Inform supervisor of availability and attend required trainings, meetings and events
  • Be active on platforms agreed upon with the supervisor (i.e.: Microsoft Teams, e-mail, and Outlook Calendar)
  • Assist with other admissions outreach projects and events as needed
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Occasional weekend event coverage may be required
