Union Hospital is looking to add a Patient Access Representative to its Emergency Department. Patient Access Representatives provide a comprehensive set of business and financial related services during the patient access process on the day the patient arrives at Union Hospital to receive healthcare services. You will work face-to-face with diverse populations of patients collecting their financial, insurance, medical, and demographic information to check them in, complete their registration, and leave a positive, lasting impression. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 2:00PM – 10:00PM or 4:00PM – 12:00AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform registration and obtain demographic, insurance, medical and financial information.
Crosstrain to staff all areas of patient access, such as front desk, admitting office, ED and cash register.
Function as a Super User and act as a resource for the training of new caregivers.
Provide registration and cash collection access in Epic.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a customer facing role OR an Associate’s Degree and one year of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders OR completion of course within one year
Basic PC software application knowledge and ability to use multiple data systems
