Schedule: Monday – Thursday: 5:30am – 4pm

What will you do?

A day in the life of a Yard Jockey at VF looks a little like this.

Safely operate equipment to efficiently load or unload trailers as assigned.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

• Coordinate the movement of trailers around the yard as needed.
• Safely operate equipment used such as forklift / front end loader.
• Police the yard and work areas for cleanliness & organization, dispose of trash/debris.
• Maintain environment by monitoring activity on property and report any concerns to management.
• Maintain logs and records as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

Educational position requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent education

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

• Must possess a VALID driver’s license
• Must be able to read and write to understand safety training and maintain work records.
• Ability to deal with uncertainty, use good judgment, be objective, be dependable, and be professional when dealing with issues as they present themselves.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

• Prior Yard Jockey experience
• CDL License

Principal Accountabilities:
Sub Job Family Description: Drive a small to medium truck or van that is typically less than five tons to make regular deliveries and pickups. Vehicle may include a trailer. Requires a driver's license appropriate to the vehicle being driven. Plan own routing for most effective utilization within schedule constraints. Ensure delivery or pick-up documentation is complete. Do routine servicing and may perform minor truck maintenance such as fueling, checking lights, oil levels, tires, brakes etc. May record information such as distance traveled, fuel consumption, etc. Typically requires a Class A CDL.___Under close supervision:* Drive a vehicle with a capacity less than 26,000 GVW* Main activities include the pick up or delivery goods, packages or equipment* May be required to load or unload contents of the vehicle

Hiring Range:

$18.60 USD - $23.25 USD per hour

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
