General Notes
The Dell Medical School is looking for a Healthcare Contracts Officer to provide personnel training and information regarding University, State of Texas, UT System, and UT System Board of Regents processes, procedures, and contract development. This position will consistently adhere to contract and document tracking requirements, should have a strong commitment to provide excellent customer services, and utilize strong organizational skills combined with an ability to organize and follow through with all projects relating to contracts.
Contracts administered include, but are not limited to: medical related, license agreements, loan agreements, sale agreements, financial agreements, purchase agreements, agreements for providing goods and/or services, confidentiality agreements, interlocal and interagency agreements, and any other type of document or contract as requested.
Purpose
Review, negotiate, draft, revise, and amend contracts to ensure compliance with University Rules, which include the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, the rules and policies of The University of Texas System, and the rules and policies of The University of Texas at Austin, as well as State of Texas and federal laws. Apply contract formation knowledge to independently address a variety of contract issues. Provide thorough information Dell Medical School regarding proposed and final negotiated terms and associated risk exposure.
Responsibilities
Review, revise and draft contracts as well as other agreements or documents and making changes to agreements in order to comply with University Rules, which include the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, the rules and policies of The University of Texas System, and the rules and policies of The University of Texas at Austin, as well as State of Texas and federal laws. Working with Dell Medical personnel and University personnel in order to complete the contract process.
Correspond with vendors and Dell Medical personnel at The University of Texas at Austin, including explaining effects of provisions and clauses, risks associated with clauses, and the legal effect of clauses.
Perform administrative tasks including: routing, distributing, storing, and reporting in regards to contracts.
Review and resolve contract related issues, ensuring that Dell Medical departments comply with contract and procurement laws, and helping to educate Dell Medical employees about procurement and contracts.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an Accredited Law School. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University. Attorney licensed to practice in Texas. Prior experience for institution of higher education. Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Ability to work in a professional manner as both a self-starter and a team member. Strong business process skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products. Communicate clearly and effectively in person and in writing with internal and external persons concerning contracting, purchasing, and all issues which relate to creating, enforcing, and performing contracts. Work collaboratively, effectively and efficiently with all internal and external people. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous contract experience at a Texas institution of higher education.
Salary Range
$65,000+ depending on qualifications

Conversing on the phone throughout the day.
Climbing stairs is required.
Ability to work with a scanner, and copier throughout the day.
Lift, carry and file paper files.
Use of manual dexterity.

Criminal background check will be conducted.
Continuously work with a high volume of contracts and under pressure of deadlines.
Working more than forty hours per week may be required.
