Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community located between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro in Chatham County, NC.  We are currently seeking a Certified Medication Aide to work 12-hour shifts (7a-7p). The Medication Aide will assist licensed nursing staff by administering daily medications as ordered by the physician in accordance with established nursing standards, facility policies and procedures and North Carolina state Board of Nursing requirements. Responsible for the delivery of resident care (baths, personal grooming, feeding) as directed by the plan of care, nurse, supervisor, and Manager. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. 

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

• Delivers routine daily oral, inhalation and topical medications to residents under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Follows written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications. 
• Practices safe handling and storage of medications.
• Performs tasks associated with medication administration, including vital signs, medication dose calculations, stocking of the medication carts, and removal of discontinued medications.
• Records medication administration according to company policies and procedures.
• Observes for any adverse drug reactions and reports any problems to the nurse.
• Attends all required committee meetings and completes reports. Be active participant in corrective action plan to resolve issues or trends noted as indicated.
• Responds to resident requests and other direct care duties as assigned.
• Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.

Requirements

• Two to three years of experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, including some long-term care experience.
• Must have current certification in North Carolina as a Medication Aide and Medication Tech.
• Continuing education as required.
• General computer knowledge. Familiarity with electronic medical record software is preferred. 
• Awareness of the needs of geriatric resident.
• Ability to calculate figures related to medication dosages and amounts as percentages and area.
