Job Description
AECOM has an immediate opening in our Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton TX offices for a Water Resources Project Manager to support the production and technical services for the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program. Under this contract, AECOM provides engineering and other technical services nationwide, including production of effective, flexible, and sustainable Risk MAP products to develop and implement tools to protect the United States from floods and other related hazardous conditions.
The Water Resources/ Civil Engineering Project Manager will have a critical role in helping facilitate the client’s needs. This person will be an integral part of the team, utilizing their knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Hydrology and Hydraulics, and problem-solving skills to support our client. The candidate will work directly with the client, both on and off-site, and will need to successfully manage client’s requests as well as support the production teams internally.
The successful candidate for the position requires an in-depth knowledge of the NFIP program to support on-going projects and rapid response requests. The Water Resources Engineer, by virtue of the position, may be required to provide surge support during critical national disasters or congressional inquiries. The successful candidate will need to thrive in a fast-paced environment and provide a broad range of oversight managing teams in providing support to our FEMA Regional offices, functions such as:
- Supervise local water resources staff.
- Coordinate and manage water resources, watershed/floodplain studies and/or storm water management projects.
- Assist business leaders with proposal efforts, business strategies, and contract negotiations including but not limited to terms & conditions, scope, and budget.
- Effectively convey proposed work efforts and project results in technical documents, interviews, and oral presentations.
- Monitor and manage project and task management in compliance with contractual, quality, and financial commitments.
- Develop and maintain client relationships.
- Support client management and communication.
- Facilitate, plan, organize and manage all requests from the client on tight deadlines.
- Serve FEMA Regions and FEMA Headquarters as a subject matter expert providing guidance related to hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses, levees and modeling and floodplain delineations using GIS-based engineering and mapping tools.
- Delegate tasks to multiple supporting staff across diverse geographies.
