Senior Accounting Associate Starting Salary Range
$23.36 - $24.89 / hour
Senior Accounting Associate Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for more complex accounts such as Fixed Assets, Investor Loans, EFT Settlement and ancillary products.
- Resolves outstanding reconciling items to ensure accurate financial reporting and minimal loss to SCCU. Assists accounting teammates with reconciliations as needed.
- Analyze, verify, and summarize account information in order to prepare appropriate journal entries, including supporting documentation, on a timely basis.
- Maintains general knowledge and compliance with internal policies, GAAP and banking regulations as related to assigned areas of responsibility.
- Consults with other departments/branches on out-of-balance conditions, identifying root causes and resolutions. Provides training and instruction, as needed, regarding correct general ledger posting, transaction flow, forms completion, or compliance requirements.
- Reviews reasonableness of assigned income statement accounts, throughout the month, and independently makes necessary corrections to ensure the accuracy of the credit union’s financial statements.
- Assumes responsibility for updating and maintaining various financial systems modules, such as Fixed Assets, the account reconciliation application, general ledger application, and prepaids.
- Responsible for the preparation and submission of complex regulatory reports as assigned (i.e. Annual Censuses, Tangible Property Tax)
- Actively participates in teams involving financial transactions systems to ensure proper posting and recording of financial data.
- Updates procedure manuals for all changes/updates on a timely basis.
- Assists management with the replies to auditors’ questions and requests for reports/supporting documentation.
- Provides support for the department by reviewing and resolving work-related problems and completing other accounting functions as needed.
Senior Accounting Associate Minimum Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
Prior Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting is required. Financial Institution experience preferred.
- Intermediate excel skills required.
- Experience with accounting/financial transaction systems and software preferred
Senior Accounting Associate Hours
- 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday - Friday
